Explosion protection for:

• RHEWA indicators through the use of zener barriers for legal-for-trade and non-trade applications in Zone 1 and 2. The indicator is outside the ex zone in this case.
• RHEWA indicator with intrinsically safe design, so the entire weighing instrument (indicator and weighing platform) is in the ex zone
• Load cells/weighing platforms with intrinsically safe design (Eex ia IIC T4) for Zone 0, 1 and 2.

The following requirements are to be clarified when operating Ex scales:

• Explosion protection zone/temperature class
• Trade approved/non-trade approved application
• Location of the individual scale components (is the entire weighing instrument in the explosion zone or just the weighing platform?)
• Indicator functions (switching, printing, data communications, etc.)
